The cottage sits on the edge of Elterwater Common, with the backdrop of the Langdales, behind it. The views of this landscape vary with season, but year-round, there are likely to be a few of the famous local breed of sheep – Herdwick – wandering around on the road outside, or occasionally napping on the grass opposite.
