Townfoot Cottage is in the heart of the Langdale Valley, with amazing walks, straight from the door. If you want an easy stroll, there is a flat, riverside walk, which finishes at Skelwith Bridge, where you can eat out at Chesters Cafe, which overlooks a magnificent waterfall. You are also surrounded by some more energetic ascents to the tops all around the cottage.
